Past Due Rent Help in Montgomery County

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Action Agency offers housing assistance through the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program.

This program provides financial support to eligible Montgomery County residents who are behind on rent payments.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for assistance, you must:

  • Reside in Montgomery County

  • Meet federal income guidelines (typically aligned with SNAP/food stamp levels)

  • Provide documentation of an uncontrollable or unforeseen financial hardship, such as:

    • Medical bills

    • Job loss or reduced hours

    • Major car repairs

Documents You’ll Need

You must provide the following at your appointment:

  • Proof of monthly household income

  • Social Security cards for all household members

  • Photo ID for each household member age 18 or older

  • Documentation of financial hardship

  • Past-due statement from your landlord

  • Lease agreement, if you are renting

Important:
Your landlord must agree to accept a voucher and wait for payment.

Appointments and Follow-Up

All required documents must be submitted at the time of your appointment.
Missing documents may result in your appointment being rescheduled.
