Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

LIHEAP is a federally funded program that helps low-income households with their energy bills. The level of assistance is based on:

  • Energy burden (how much of your income goes toward energy bills)

  • Household income and size

  • The presence of vulnerable members (seniors, individuals with disabilities, children under 6)

You don’t need to have a past due energy bill or be on public assistance to apply. Renters and homeowners are both eligible.

How to Apply

Applications are accepted from October 1 through September 30 (as long as funding is available).

You can:

  • Pick up or fill out an application at our office

  • Call 931-896-1800 (press 0) if you have a shut-off notice to schedule an appointment
